
Born and raised in San Francisco, Marty attended and graduated Sacred Heart High School in 1965. Subsequently, he ttended and graduated St. Mary's College of California-graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics in 1969. Marty began his career at Bank of America in Commercial Lending in 1969. In 1972, he relocated to Ukiah, California where he secured a job with the Savings Bank of Mendocino County. After 41 years of employment with the Savings Bank, Marty retired in July of 2013 as the bank's Senior Vice President. During his career, Marty was very involved in the community and banking industry, and dedicated much of his life mentoring and encouraging Elementary, Middle School, High School and College students.
Over the years Marty participated in various community-related endeavors, including serving as Chairman of Mendocino County's Workforce Investment Board, President of the Ukiah Educational Foundation, President of the California Independent Banker's Board of Directors, President of the Board of Director's of Community Banker's of California. He served on the Board of Director's for the the following organizations: Ukiah Valley Chamber of Commerce Board, Ukiah Valley Medical Center Hospital Board, California Banker's Association Board, Mendocino Winegrowers Foundation Board, Performance Coatings Corporation Board, Sauvignon Republic Corporation Board, Independent Banker's of America Board, MendocinoCounty Economic Development Board, Northern California Medical Hospital Network (On the Boards of 5 Hospitals), Leadership Mendocino Board, Ukiah High School's MESA Program Board, Northern California Red Cross Board, Tapestry Foster Care Board, Mendocino County Public Safety Board, Mendocino Community College Bond Oversight Board, United Way of Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake and Humboldt Counties Board and quite a few others.
Marty and his wife Kathleen owned a home in Grass Valley for the past 9 years prior to relocating to the area upon their retirement in 2013. Marty is particularly passionate about Ukiah and Grass Valley and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation, The Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce Board, the Friendship Club Board (supports at risk girls between the ages of 10 and 18), Anew Day Board (Suicide Prevention), Nevada County Italian Cultural Foundation Board, California Independent Bankers Board and generously gives time every day as a student mentor for Nevada Union High School.
Marty and kathleen have six children and nine beautiful grandchildren.
