Mike and his wife Robin have been married and lived in Nevada County for the past 34 years.  The Bratton's love Nevada County and are an integral part of our community.  While raising 4 children they were continually involved with the local schools and community service clubs with the goal of making our community a better place and a thriving environment for youth.  Even now, after their children were grown with their own families, they are still involved with the local high schools and community service clubs.

Mike has owned the local State Farm Insurance Agency for the last 25 years and has earned many of the top achiever awards given by the State Farm Company.  He is also an active Rotarian.

The family survived a tragic loss when their son, Michael Jr., took his life in 2006.  The family had no warning signs of Michael’s intent to end his life, and they are left with questions that perhaps will never be answered (See Mike's story here -Link to Home page video).  The MB2 Foundation was started as a way to bring suicide awareness to other people who are suffering from depression and thoughts of suicide.  Each year they host the “Turkey Trot”, a 5 and 10K run to raise money to support other non-profits in the area with the same goal.

Mike became involved with Anew Day because he felt God lead him here to help others.

 Dr. Chrstopher Claydon - Dr. Claydon, MD is a practicing Family Practitioner in Grass Valley, CA. He completed his residency at St Michaels Medical Center. He graduated from medical school in 1976, having over 43 years of diverse experience, especially in Family Practice. Chris also specializes in Geriatric Medicine.He is affiliated with many hospitals including Oroville Hospital and Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. 

Married for 33 years, Lorrie and her husband Eric have been Nevada county residents for more than 20 years. Together, they’ve raised two children, Michael and Kacie and are now enjoying their three grandsons and newborn granddaughter.

Lorrie serves as a School Psychologist for the Grass Valley School District. Her work experience includes working as a school counselor an Adolescent Family Life Program Manager.

Though her greatest passions include spending time with her family and her role as “Grammie”, in her spare time, Lorrie enjoys backpacking, hiking;, reading, interior designing, and crafting. She contributes a great deal of her time as a volunteer staff member for Campus Life Youth Ministry.

Lorrie has an unshakable desire to live a life pleasing to The Lord and she strives to live in a way that serves as a testimony to His unrelenting love and limitless grace.

Suzanne has lived in Nevada County since 1986 after growing up in the Bay Area. She has been married to her husband, Mike, for 32 years and has two grown sons, Chris and Darren.

Suzanne has been with Robertson, Woodford and Summers for 11 years. She specializes in individual and corporate tax returns, and assists clients with accounting issues and special projects. She is also a certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor. Suzanne graduated with her BA from California State University, Fresno and finished her accounting classes at California State University, Sacramento when she received her CPA license.

In her spare time, Suzanne enjoys fishing with her husband Mike, yard sale shopping with her girlfriends, following the San Francisco Giants, and spending time with her sons Chris and Darren and dogs Spencer and Shadow. She volunteers at her church and local schools as a way of giving back and being involved with the youth of Nevada County.

John and Eileen have been married for 29 years and have three boys.  They moved to Nevada County 17 years ago.

John is the Chief of Police for the Grass Valley Police Department. His law enforcement career began more than 33 years ago in Palo Alto, California.  After 13 years at the Palo Alto Police Department and attaining the rank of Police Lieutenant, he accepted a job as a Police Captain in Corvallis, Oregon.  After 4 years in Corvallis, Oregon, John came to the City of Grass Valley in July 1998 where he was sworn in as the 5th Police Chief.   John received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from CSU-Sacramento and his Master of Public Administration from the University of San Francisco.  

As a direct result of John’s leadership, the Grass Valley Police Department has successfully enhanced its Community Oriented Policing Program and developed successful partnerships with the citizens, youth, the school districts as well as the business community.  John has developed and earned a reputation for being creative, innovative, and collaborative, both within his organization and in the community.

Scott and his wife Carolyn have been married 26 years, the past 18 of which have been  in Nevada County. They have two beautiful daughters who grew up here. They love Nevada County for its scenic beauty, it’s perfect climate, its lakes and streams and all the outdoor activities.

Scott has been an attorney for over 23 years, with a focus on real estate and construction matters, as well as a broad range of business litigation and transactions. Scott earned his Masters Degree from Western Seminary in 2014 and is now serving as lead pastor at Combie Bible Church. Scott's hobbies include snow skiing, scuba diving, landscaping, BBQ and running with my Dobermans through the forest behind my house

A native of England, Susie graduated from London University and moved to the United States in 1981.  Susie enjoyed a 22-year career in the hospitality industry working for such companies as the Four Seasons Hotels, Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts and Campton Place in San Francisco. Her hospitality experience culminated in the position of director of destination services at the Resort at Squaw Creek, where in less than three years she grew her division into a multi-million dollar revenue center.

While living in San Francisco, Susie met her husband, Lock and with the addition of their daughter, Ella, they decided to move to Nevada City where they have lived since 1995.  After retiring from the hospitality industry, Susie joined Lock in his commercial real estate firm, Sperry Van Ness – Highland Commercial, where she serves as a leasing agent, specializing in office, industrial and retail properties in Nevada County.

In 2009, Susie joined Anew Day as a lay counselor,  a role for which she has a deep passion.  More recently, Susie joined the board of Anew Day, further cementing her commitment to the ministry she loves.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Marty attended and graduated Sacred Heart High School in 1965. Subsequently, he ttended and graduated St. Mary's College of California-graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics in 1969. Marty began his career at Bank of America in Commercial Lending in 1969. In 1972, he relocated to Ukiah, California where he secured a job with the Savings Bank of Mendocino County. After 41 years of employment with the Savings Bank, Marty retired in July of 2013 as the bank's Senior Vice President.  During his career, Marty  was very involved in the community and  banking industry, and dedicated much of his life mentoring and encouraging Elementary, Middle School, High School and College students.

 Over the years Marty participated in various community-related endeavors, including serving as Chairman of Mendocino County's Workforce Investment Board, President of the Ukiah Educational Foundation, President of the California Independent Banker's Board of Directors, President of the Board of Director's of Community Banker's of California. He served on the Board of Director's for the the following organizations: Ukiah Valley Chamber of Commerce Board, Ukiah Valley Medical Center Hospital Board, California Banker's Association Board, Mendocino Winegrowers Foundation Board, Performance Coatings Corporation Board, Sauvignon Republic Corporation Board,  Independent Banker's of America Board, MendocinoCounty Economic Development Board, Northern California Medical Hospital Network (On the Boards of 5 Hospitals), Leadership Mendocino Board, Ukiah High School's MESA Program Board, Northern California Red Cross Board, Tapestry Foster Care Board, Mendocino County Public Safety Board, Mendocino Community College Bond Oversight Board, United Way of Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake and Humboldt Counties Board and quite a few others.

Marty and his wife Kathleen owned a home in Grass Valley for the past 9 years prior to relocating to the area upon their retirement in 2013. Marty is particularly passionate about Ukiah and Grass Valley and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of  Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation, The Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce Board, the Friendship Club Board (supports at risk girls between the ages of 10 and 18), Anew Day Board (Suicide Prevention),  Nevada County Italian Cultural Foundation Board, California Independent Bankers Board and generously gives time every day as a student mentor for Nevada Union High School.  

Marty and kathleen have six children and nine beautiful grandchildren.

Born and raised in Nevada County, California, Lori’s roots are deeply rooted in the local community. Lori and her husband Glen have been married for three years. Together they are raising Glen’s nine-year-old son, Forrest.  Lori’s daughter Charisse and son-in-law Ian work for the Fairfield, CA school district; Charisse a second grade teacher, Ian an IT associate.  Lori’s youngest daughter Whitney serves in the U.S. Navy. Lori and Glen spend a great deal of time caring for Lori’s three-year-old grandbaby Addison during Whitney’s various Naval deployments.

Lori earned her undergraduate degree in Organizational Communications and English Literature from California State University, Chico (CSUC). While attending CSUS, she became certified as a Technical Writer as well. Lori completed her graduate work at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she earned a Masters Degree in Justice Management. Her final Professional Thesis Project, entitled Mental Illness in America: Reducing Violent Crime through Accurate Diagnosis and Needs-Specific Diversion Programs was inspired by her previous experience as a law enforcement officer and her observations of the revolving cycle of mentally ill individuals whose needs, from her perspective, were not being adequately met within the criminal justice system.

In addition to serving seven years for the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department, Lori has spent much of her professional career in the non-profit arena serving in various positions throughout Nevada County and the Sacramento region. Her experience includes serving as the Executive Director of LivingWell Medical Clinic, a Grant Writer and Development Officer for Pacific Legal Foundation, and an Adoption Coordinator for Lifetime Adoption.

With a passion for writing, Lori recently completed her first fiction novel. Her other passions include camping, fishing, Scrabble, trivia, spending summer days at the Yuba River, and most of all, enjoying her precious family.
